 There
are a number of community groups in and around the Watamu area.
There are two distinct groups: Those who implement development projects
in their community with assistance by way of funds and donations in kind, and
those who are community based tour operators, offering various
services to visitors.
Here is a selection of current development projects ongoing in the Watamu area
- this list will be regularly updated:
"Communtiy based tour operators" are defined as those who aren't
involved in a major tourism business, i.e. curio dealers, dhow and boat owners,
excellent snorkelling guides and so on. More formal versions of this group include:
